The Royal Wedding of Louis XIV

350 years ago, in 1660 to marry the Infanta of Spain, the young Sun King joined his sweetheart and began a journey through the French provinces to find it on the Isle of Pheasants, to the Spanish border, place of his wedding with Marie Therese d’Autriche. Lavish royal procession of several thousand members, this rite of passage was the place of all the daring of a King, 22 years old, causing the admiration of people: Main Royal, attacking fortifications, princely ceremonies are a pretext to fire virtuosic choreography Group F, before returning to Versailles and its pleasures of the Magic Island.

Discover the groves and fountains and its gushing waters, in the rhythm of the music. Several courses are available to you. Whatever your choice, they allow everyone to enjoy many masterpieces of the Garden. Finally, the loafers and fans may stray into the most secret places of the garden. In the legacy of the creative spirit of Versailles, it is our time to experience the arts in this area except by giving high priority to works that were created over two centuries. The musical part of Fountains Music has been assigned to Christophe Rousset, who, at the head of its Talents Lyriques, is an ardent servant of baroque music. The operas of Lully, Rameau, Desmarest and are borrowed to the openings, chaconne, passacaglia and dances which burst forth from each grove, each fountain, and give life to statues of marble and gold at the Colonnade Room Bal, the pleasures of the Enchanted Isle reborn endlessly.

To discover more and enjoy the gardens, groves and protected areas of the castle are available on certain Tuesdays from May to September for a musical walk: a moment of intense discovery in the heart of French gardens designed by Le Nôtre, among multitude of statues that inhabit the aisles, and the shadow space saved by gardeners at Versailles.
