Uncover the storied legacy of Trianon Palace Versailles, an exquisite retreat set at the crossroads of royal history and modern luxury.

Discover The Rich History Of This Exquisite Four-Star France Hotel

The story of Trianon Palace Versailles, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel began on December 19, 1907, when entrepreneur Weill Martignan proposed the construction of a luxury hotel in Versailles. Three years later, on May 1, 1910, this extraordinary four-star France hotel officially opened its doors to the public. Trianon Palace immediately became synonymous with privilege and class, as world-renown individuals were drawn by the luxurious accommodation and tranquil royal surroundings.

During the First World War, the hotel was used as an auxiliary hospital and later as the headquarters of the Inter-Allied Military Council. On May 7th 1919, Georges Clemenceau dictated the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles in our reception salon, which has henceforth borne his name. The treaty was signed several days later in the Hall of Mirrors of the Chateau de Versailles.

After a period of peace, the hotel was again used for military purposes during the Second World War, when it was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force, the Luftwaffe, and finally, by American forces.

In 1946, the Trianon was restored to its position as one of the most luxurious four-star France hotels, and became a favourite haunt for notable personalities such as Marlene Dietrich, Paul Getty, Queen Elizabeth II, Jacques Brel, Franois Mauriac, Jean Gabin, Jeanne Moreau, and Tino Rossi. In 1990, Trianon Palace was purchased by an international company, and a major renovation was undertaken. The Pavilion building and a new conference centre were constructed, ensuring the highest standards of comfort and luxury. In 2009, the Trianon Palace entered the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Collection, designating this four-star Versailles hotel as one of the world's leading destinations.
